[Disclaimer: This announcement is being posted to multiple mailing lists with overlapping membership. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.] INTERACTION, THE 63rd WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION http://www.interaction.worldcon.org.uk/ PRESS RELEASE #37 - Short Fiction Hugo Nominees Online GLASGOW, Tuesday 17 May 2005 Short fiction Hugo nominees online – voting open until 8 July 2005 – Voting by postal ballot or online The organizers of Interaction, the 63rd World Science Fiction Convention, are pleased to remind members that the works nominated in the short fiction categories of this year’s Hugo Awards are all available online. To facilitate those who wish to find the online versions, the Interaction Web site now contains a page of links to the various sites where the stories are held. This page, which can be found at http://www.interaction.worldcon.org.uk/hugolink.htm, also provides links to the home pages of many other nominees across the full range of Hugo categories. “The short fiction categories of the Hugo Awards have always been among the most difficult to vote for because the stories are published over the period of a year and in various publications,” says Vincent Docherty, Co-Chairman of Interaction. “However, with the coming of the Internet, authors and publishers have increasingly elected to make their nominated works available online, in most cases at no charge. We are delighted that the best work of 2004 is now more accessible, and that members will be able to enjoy all of the stories as well as having a more informed choice when they come to vote.” Voting in the Hugo Awards is open to all adult members of Interaction and can be carried out online or by post. The postal ballot form and the online voting form may be found on the Interaction web site at http://www.interaction.worldcon.org.uk/hugofinal.htm. Non-members may purchase a membership at the same time as submitting their postal ballot. Online voting requires a PIN number for security reasons. PIN numbers are regularly issued by post to new members, or may be obtained by emailing the Hugo Administrator at hugoadmin@interaction.worldcon.org.uk. The Deadline for receipt of all ballots is 23.59 British Summer Time on 8 July 2005.
